About our project

The Staffordshire House Project launched in September 2023 as part of the national House Project network, working in partnership with the National House Project to support care‑experienced young people moving into independent living.

The project helps young people to develop the skills, confidence, and relationships needed to successfully manage their own home. Young people are actively involved in choosing their property and preparing it to become their home, while receiving practical and emotional support through group work and one‑to‑one sessions. This co‑designed approach places young people at the centre of decision‑making and supports long‑term stability

The Staffordshire House Project complements existing leaving care pathways, offering an enhanced housing and support option alongside personal advisor support and corporate parenting responsibilities. It supports young people as they transition from care, typically from age 18 onwards.

Since launch, the project has supported a growing number of care‑experienced young people across Staffordshire, with demand continuing to grow. With a number of them now managing their own tenancies.
